YONECO is a registered local Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) that was founded in 1997 to respond to issues that affect the youth, women and children in Malawi. Currently, YONECO has a total of 15 districts across Malawi and eight adjunct offices in the country. Further to this, YONECO has various nationwide programmes which include YONECO FM Radio, ICT for Development Interventions and the Tithandizane Helpline Services. The Tithandizane Helpline Services has several toll-free lines namely; GBV Crisis Line (5600), National Child Helpline (116), Youth Helpline (393) as well as Drug and Substance Abuse Hotline (6600). YONECO is affiliated to a number of networks and alliances. At national level, YONECO is a member of Civil Society Education Coalition (CSEC), NGO – Gender Coordination Network (NGO-GCN), Malawi Electoral Support Network (MESN), National Youth Council (NYCOM), Malawi Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights Alliance, More than Brides Alliance (MTBA). At international level; YONECO is a member of Child Helpline International (CHI), Parenting in Africa Network (PAN), Sports for Social Change Network (SSCN), and International Society for the Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect (ISPCAN), Ending Child Prostitution and Trafficking (ECPAT) International among others. Further to this, YONECO has Economic and Social Council of the United Nations (ECOSOC) Status as well as a custodian of the Africa Wide Movement for children (AWMC).
